School notes

Ohio Connections Academy

Autumn Behm and Hope Sahr, both of Lancaster, graduated June 9.

Lancaster High School

Recent graduate, Gina Falvo, is one of 10 Ohio high school seniors to receive the 30th annual AAA School Safety Patrol $1,000 Scholarship. Falvo plans to attend Ohio State University and study political science and international studies.

Bartholow Scholarships

Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow (BLT), local watershed group, recognized three outstanding high school graduates with the annual Merv Bartholow Scholarship, of $1000 each.

  • Skyler Yakes from Sheridan High School, plans to study Anthropology at the University of South Carolina.
  • Natalio Parker from Millersport High School, plans to study Astrophysics at the Ohio State University.
  • Shelby Graham from Lakewood High School, plans to study Biology at the University of Mount Union.

The awards were given to students who plan to study a STEM field in college.

The award is funded by the Doris Orr Kaspar Foundation. The scholarship is a memorial to BLT founder and civic activist, Merv Bartholow. Merv worked diligently to improve water quality in the Buckeye Lake watershed and inspired many others to join the cause.

Community notes

Kyndall Woltz, a 7th grader at Bloom Carroll Middle School earned a position on the Ohio state/provincial National Junior High rodeo team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Huron, South Dakota, from June 24 to 30.

She will compete at the 14th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in the barrel racing and goat tying.
