Popstar and business mogul Rihanna held her annual Diamond Ball gala in New York City. The philanthropic event went down at the tail end of New York Fashion Week, when all of Hollywood’s best and brightest were in town. The ball benefits The Clara Lionel Foundation, an organization started by Rihanna in 2012 to promote education equality. The company’s mission statement reads: All kids deserve equal access to education. Together we can make real change in education for children all over the world.

CLF also works to provide emergency relief help to disaster victims. According to Forbes.com, “To date, CLF has worked with emergency response partners to provide immediate help in the southern United States, Mexico and the Caribbean in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma, Harvey and Maria, as well as the earthquakes in Mexico. Since 2016, CLF has donated 735,025 supplies and reached approximately 275,127 people. With hurricane season on the horizon, CLF’s work is more important than ever.”

In May of 2016, Rihanna announced a global scholarship program, saying,  “To be able to give the gift of an education is actually an honor,” Rihanna said in a statement to USA Today. “Higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this.”

It’s clear this organization is changing lives. Here are photos of the glamorous night that helps to provide funds to the mission.
