Larry J. Rowley, 66, who was taken to Upstate University Hospital after a Nov. 4 fire, has died.

Tully, N.Y. - A 66-year-old man man badly injured in a Tully apartment fire last week has died.

Larry J. Rowley, who was injured in the fire on Nov. 4,  died on Friday, according to his obituary. He served in the Marines and retired from TAG Mechanical, his obituary said.

Rowley suffered second-degree burns on his arms and third-degree burns on his face, New York State police said. He had been in critical condition after the fire at Upstate University Hospital, troopers said.

Troopers initially said the cause of the fire was under investigation but added that it appeared Rowley had been smoking inside the apartment while using an oxygen tank. The fire was reported just after 9 a.m.

State police did not respond to calls today about the man's death.

The Tully Fire Department rushed to Meadows Apartments, 1 Village View Drive  and realized a man, later identified as Rowley, was trapped inside his burning apartment. The building, which houses approximately 30 people, had been evacuated.

Firefighters rescued Rowley from his apartment, Tully Fire Chief Steven Shahan said at the time. The fire was contained to the room Rowley was found in, he said.

Rowley is survived by his children, Larry Rowley, Austin Rowley and Sarah McGowan, several brothers and sisters and nine grandchildren, according to his obituary.
