Engineers say the $3 million 2018 Bugatti Chiron can escalate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2.5 seconds. This 2018 Bugatti Chiron belongs to Mayur Shree, the first owner of a Chiron in Texas.

Rain on Saturday wasn’t strong enough to keep hundreds of car enthusiasts away from the 2018 Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase at the Four Seasons Resort in Las Colinas.

Rain on Saturday wasn’t strong enough to keep thousands of car enthusiasts away from the 2018 Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase at the Four Seasons Resort in Las Colinas.

More than $100 million worth of four-wheeled steel, aluminum and fiberglass were on display at the car show. Models were showcased from every brand the Park Place dealership group represents, including Bugatti, Maserati, McLaren, Bentley, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Volvo, Jaguar, Lotus, and Rolls-Royce.

Rolls Royce let me take their $404,000 Dawn model home for the weekend. Its V-12, direct fuel injection engine powers the car quickly and smoothly. For just a few days, I’m getting the thrill that owners of such cars in the attached slideshow experience daily.

It wasn’t the most expensive car at the show. Mayur Shree brought his $3 million 2018 Bugatti Chiron.

“The best part about owning it is meeting all the good people who want to see it,” Shree said.

Engineers say the Bugatti Chiron’s top speed is electronically limited to 261 miles per hour, but Shree says he’s only driven it 60 to 80 mph. “There’s not enough room to drive fast in Dallas,” he said.

The Best of Show award went to Randy Johnson's 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB 6c; the Chairman’s Choice award went to Fred Cornwall's 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II; and Salesmanship Club award went to John Kobell's 1980 BMW MI.

Mike Davis, a retired police officer, said he didn’t expect to win an award for his 1960 Rolls Royce, which today is worth roughly $50,000.

“It’s nice if I win a trophy, but I win every time I see a smile,” Davis said.
