Tommy is now in politics – what does this mean for the rest of the cast? (Picture: Caters News)

The new season will show the Shelby’s misfortunes following the financial crash of 1929.

It will also follow Tommy’s new found role in politics as an elected official, where he’ll star alongside Claflin – a fellow politician whom we expect will cause problems for him.

Paul Anderson who plays Arthur Shelby said to metro.co.uk earlier this year: ‘Arthur’s not gonna be a politician. He’s got political ties now, let’s put it that way. But you won’t see him at no rallies or in Parliament.

‘What it gives Arthur and his family is more power. Tommy is in a position of power, and he can only get stronger in that position.’
