CAIRO - 20 September 2017: Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with their French striker Karim Benzema to extend his contract with the club until 2021.

“Real Madrid and Karim Benzema have agreed to an extension to the player's contract, binding him to the club until 30 June 2021,” Real Madrid’s statement said.

Benzema, 29, is the fourth player to extend his contract with Real Madrid in the last few days after Marcelo Vieira, Francisco Alarcon “Isco” and Dani Carvajal.

Benzema is a Lyon academy product, he joined the French club when he was just nine and was promoted through the club’s youth rankings.

Benzema joined Lyon’s first team in 2004. He played with the club for five years, scoring 66 goals according to Realmadrid.com

Benzema’s great performance with Lyon attracted Real Madrid’s attention. He joined the club in 2009 and was a great addition to the club. Benzema has scored 171 goals with the club.

Benzema won three Champions League titles in 2014, 2016 and 2017. He also won two La Liga titles in 2012 and 2017.
