Popular local chef and restaurateur Ric Orlando will return to competition on Food Network when he appears on “Beat Bobby Flay” in an episode Orlando tells me is scheduled for 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. Orlando says he is not permitted to discuss the nature of the episode. He last appeared on Food Network five years ago, when he won two of three episodes of “Chopped.”

In “Beat Bobby Flay,” two chefs battle one another in the first round for the chance to face Flay in the second.

In other news from Orlandoworld, the chef and his restaurants did well in the Best of the Hudson Valley readers’ poll for Hudson Valley magazine.
