LOS ANGELES  - "Avatar" remained the top-selling DVD and Blu-ray Disc for a third consecutive week in the United States on Wednesday, a day after distributor 20th Century Fox said the movie had already sold nearly 20 million discs worldwide.

In addition to holding fast atop both the Nielsen VideoScan sales chart and the tracking service's dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart for the week ending May 9, "Avatar" returned to the top of Home Media Magazine's rental chart. It bumped "It's Complicated" to No. 2.

Two newly released comedies with modest box office takes landed among the week's top titles. "Tooth Fairy" debuted at No. 3 on both the sales and the rental charts. And "Leap Year" bowed at No. 6 on the sales chart and at No. 4 on the rental chart.

"Tooth Fairy" also debuted at No. 3 on the Blu-ray Disc chart, right behind the "Sapphire Series" reissue of "Saving Private Ryan." The war movie is being recalled due to an audio synch error that occurred during the authoring process. Replacement discs are slated to be available at retailers on Tuesday. The original "Iron Man" was No. 4 on the Blu-ray Disc chart, just as the sequel opened at No. 1 on the big screen.
