A former Rutgers University football player was indicted Thursday on charges accusing him in a plot to kill his ex-girlfriend’s parents and threatening to share intimate photos of the woman.

Izaia Bullock faces charges including two counts of attempted murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder stemming from his October 2018 arrest in Middlesex County.

The former walk-on linebacker from Piscataway hatched a scheme to kill his targets and make it look like a murder-suicide, prosecutors said. Bullock allegedly discussed forcing his ex-girlfriend’s mother to drink a fatal beverage containing crushed medication.

In a prior court hearing, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Megan Kosovich described the plot as “meticulously planned” and said he searched online for various methods of death.

The scheme was exposed when another person, who Bullock tried to recruit as a getaway driver and a lookout in the planned slayings, recorded him and turned over the evidence to Rutgers police, according to authorities.

Police discovered a cup containing suspected crushed-up Tylenol, a mask and gloves during a search of Bullock’s car, authorities said.

In a separate indictment, the 22-year-old was accused of threatening to send intimate photos of his ex-girlfriend to her workplace. He faces a cyber harassment charge in that case.

A Middlesex County grand jury handed up both indictments Thursday, Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey announced.

Bullock's attorney, Joshua Altman, previously said his client soon renounced the alleged plot, sending a text message that said "I can't do it.” The former football player, Altman said, cooperated with investigators.

A judge ordered Bullock released from the Middlesex County jail late last year with home detention with electronic monitoring. He was dismissed from the Rutgers football team following his arrest.

Carey, the prosecutor, said the probe was continuing and asked anyone with information to call investigators at 732-745-3254.
