A bunch of rodent droppings in a food storage area temporarily closed a West Palm Beach strip club and steakhouse earlier this month, according to state inspectors.
(Yes, apparently people go there for the food too.)
Records show that state inspectors visited Monroe’s of Palm Beach, at 1000 N. Congress Ave. in West Palm Beach, on April 17.
They found 15 rodent droppings on a box of pasta and 22 other droppings inside the box, according to an inspection report.
But that wasn’t all. “Too many to count under wire rack shelves,” the report said, noting that the droppings were all found in a dry food storage area near a hot water heater.
“All dropping[s] too small to determine fresh or old,” the report added.
Those were the most serious violations. Inspectors also found some other violations, including “clam/mussel/oyster tags not marked with last date served” and a manager “lacking proof of food manager certification,” among others.
The Monroe’s of Palm Beach website describes the establishment as “the #1 Adult Entertainment Club and Steakhouse In America.”
The 36-ounce bone-in “Tomahawk” rib eye steak, served in the club’s Legends Lounge, is “being touted as the best steak in Palm Beach county,” the Monroe’s site says.
“For years, if you were looking for the best steak in West Palm Beach, you might find yourself at Morton’s or Ruth Chris, but steak lovers in South Florida are saying that’s not the case anymore.”
