"The strength of jam music in the inaugural lineup is amplified by the addition of national touring jam bands like Oteil & Friends, featuring Oteil Burbridge, Jay Lane, John Kadlecek, and Jeff Chimenti (Burgridge and Chimenti are also both members of touring jam rock group Dead & Company)," festival organizers said in a prepared statement. "Also newly added are “Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass” jam band Leftover Salmon; reggae collective Easy Star All-Stars, known for their reinterpretations of classic albums in reggae style, who will be performing Dub Side of the Moon; American jam band Perpetual Groove, whose music incorporates jazz-rock, neo-psychedelia, R&B, trance electronica, progressive rock, and anthemic arena rock."

Organizers said the bill bolsters the jam=music nature of the festival: "The latest and final round of artists to join the bill brings unique sounds across the jam music spectrum in the form of acts like Everyone Orchestra, the American improvisational musical project led by Matt Butler that features a constantly revolving roster of musicians; the Bay Area’s five-piece jam group Tea Leaf Green; American alternative rock band Big Something; West Coast group Orgone, whose sound draws from 1960s and 1970s-era funk and soul; beloved funk and soul band Pimps of Joytime; Denver-based jazz, funk, and soul group Magic Beans performing their new album Casino Cabaret, and more."

But what would such a festival be without honoring homegrown music and having it represented? Fear not, concert-goers: "An independent festival celebrating the roots of Austin music culture, the inaugural Waterloo Music Festival lineup wouldn’t be complete without its share of supreme local talent, expressed through additions like Austin Groove Project, a super jam featuring powerhouse Austin musicians Tameca Jones, Jackie Venson, Alesia Lani, The Peterson Brothers, D Madness and John D; psychedelia, soul, and blues-rooted band Kalu and The Electric Joint; punchy, psych-tinged rock and soul group Los Coast; and groove-rock outfit Mamafesta, among several others."

Such complementary acts are the goal of the inaugural festival, organizers suggested: "Waterloo Music Festival will feature three full days of nationally renowned jam bands performing alongside the city’s finest artists in a relaxed and spacious environment. The event will be held at Carson Creek Ranch, a venue just ten minutes from downtown Austin with over 60 acres of pecan-tree-lined campgrounds and scenic views from the banks of the Colorado River."

The new lineup additions will accompany the previously announced three nights of The String Cheese Incident, the first Texas show for Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD), Railroad Earth, The Motet, BoomBox, TAUK, and Marco Benevento, organizers added.

Waterloo Music Festival is produced by Heard Presents, Havin' A Ball Productions, and Unknown Entertainment — promoters with a history of bringing great music of all genres to Texas and supporting the local music community -- whose aim for this inaugural fest is to give both the jam community and Austin music lovers alike a prime three-day experience of camping, food, and music for all ages.
