The 108th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration Comes To Galveston

You deserve to have a little fun and you should do that at the 108th annual Mardi Gras Galveston celebration.

GALVESTON, TX — It's almost Mardi Gras time on Galveston Island. If beads and the beach sounds like fun, then come to the island for a full 10 days of Mardi Gras madness.

It's been the way Galveston has partied for more than a century. The island’s 108th Mardi Gras celebration takes place Feb 22- March 5, and is projected to draw more than 350,000 attendees.

Mardi Gras Galveston will feature for 29 live concerts, 23 parades, 22 balcony parties, several elegant balls and some new festive additions.

Here are a few:

  • Classic Revelry – Galveston’s historic downtown entertainment district will put you in the center of classic Mardi Gras revelry complete with big crowds and plenty of beads.
  • Upscale Mardi Gras – Mardi Gras! Galveston’s elegant side will feature several masked balls where black-tie attire, lavish buffets, live performers, dancing and parade viewing invoke the evening festivities. Popular events include the San Luis Salute hosted by Tilman and Paige Fertitta and The Tremont House’s Texas A&M Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party.
  • Family Gras – Sunday, March 3 is Family Gras at Mardi Gras! Galveston, featuring live family entertainment, plus the Krewe of Barkus & Meoux pet parade.
  • Fiesta Gras – Feb. 24 brings the return of the Hispanic heritage celebration with two parades, live entertainment performances, vendors and a balcony party.
  • Electric Mardi Gras – Electric Mardi Gras will return in 2019 with a special concert area at 21st and Mechanic streets in downtown Galveston.
