Worksop Town secure their future following successful takeover

Worksop Town's long-standing troubles are over after the club announced they are now debt-free and under new ownership.
Local businessman Paul Tomkins is the new chairman of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division club after he bought the shares owned by predecessor Jason Clark, who has, in turn, written off all money owed to him by the Tigers.
Tomkins has become well-known to the club in recent months, helping to put into place a number of new projects at Watnall Road, including the construction of a brand new stand.
A statement on Worksop's website said: “Fans may already be familiar with Mr Tomkins who has been involved with the club for a number of months.
“We are delighted today that it can be confirmed that he will take charge of all club matters with immediate effect and become the Worksop Town FC chairman.
“Paul Tomkins is a pragmatic businessman and owns businesses local to the area, Paul came into and immediately fell in love with the club around July, he engineered (literally) the success of the brand-new stand just weeks into his involvement outlining his exciting intentions from the get-go.
“Worksop Town would like to express our gratitude to Jason Clark for his many years of support and guidance through some troubling times, our thanks are extended with the news that Jason has now written off his debt giving the new ownership a blank canvas to work from at the football club.
“We would also like to thank supporters, volunteers, officials, the management team and our players for their patience during this process of change.
“The club will announce details of an open forum in due course in which the ownership and people involved will be introduced to the supporters”.
