A portion of U.S. 52 North is shutdown Monday as hazmat crews continue to cleanup debris from a weekend crash involving a tractor-trailer truck.
One lane will be shut down as crews work to clear Toms Creek nearby after a tractor-trailer carrying smoking products and cigarettes crashed into a pickup truck before hitting a guardrail near Exit 132.
Carolina Southern, the tractor-trailer hauling company, told WXII an estimated $1.1 million of product was lost during the crash, including the $250,000 vehicle.
Investigators said the crash happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday near Pilot Mountain.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
According to Surry County Emergency Management Services, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Cleanup crews tell WXII, teams in kayaks will head out Tuesday to pick up product and remaining litter in Toms Creek and Yadkin River.
