HOLIDAY TATT SCARE?

Kai Rooney appears to be getting a ‘potentially dangerous black henna tattoo’ while mum Coleen watches on

Skin experts warn that the tattoos can have side effects

LEADING skin experts have questioned whether Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s son Kai might be at risk of “painful blistering, burns and scarring” after getting what looked like “black henna” tattoo on holiday.

The exact substance isn't 100 per cent known, but the little lad, seven, was pictured having the temporary tatt in the shape of a scorpion painted onto him while in Portugal, and looked delighted to be getting the grown-up design.

However as Coleen, 31, sat with him it is unlikely she knew of the potential dangers and side effects that these popular holiday tattoos that kids and adults alike love can cause.

A representative for Coleen and husband Wayne refused to comment as to whether this was a black henna tattoo, but The British Skin Foundation as issued a warning to parents as the school holidays kick in.

A spokesperson told The Sun Online: "Parents on holiday should exercise caution when allowing their children to have temporary tattoos.

“So called 'black henna' isn't actually made from henna at all and contains para-phenylenediamine (PPD) which is found in hair dyes.

“Black henna tattoos can lead to painful blistering, burns, scarring and a lifelong sensitivity to PPD.

“The British Skin Foundation strongly recommends that people avoid black henna at all costs."

Kai looked far from in pain though as he enjoyed a day with his mum and brothers in the sun.

Despite having her three sons Kai, Klay, four, and one-year-old Kit in tow, Coleen made sure she squeezed in some ‘me’ time during the day.

She was seen treating herself to a massage by the same man who gave Kai is tattoo, before soaking up some sun while the boys sat on the end of her sunbed.

Looking gorgeous in a leopard print bikini, she Coleen made sure her fair-skinned youngest Kit’s skin was completely covered from the sun and kept him hydrated with water.

It’s no wonder Coleen’s tan is looking so golden as this Portugal trip is the Rooney’s fourth holiday since the end of the football season in May.

They’ve enjoyed getaways to Ibiza, Barbados and the Greek Island of Mykonos, before heading to Portugal.

Their time away comes on the brink of a busy few months for Coleen – who has been hotly tipped to be in a bidding war for Strictly Come Dancing AND the returning Dancing On Ice.

A source told the Daily Star: “Coleen is very hot property. She has a massive following of fans. But she is also married to the former England captain.

“With any project she does, Wayne is bound to be by her side supporting her. Having him in the studio audience would be great for any show.”

BBC’s Strictly will return in September, while Dancing On Ice is making it’s big comeback in the New Year.

The source added: “Coleen is someone the public really relate to, so she’d be great for reality TV.

“This would be the perfect chance for Coleen to show what she’s made of.”
