Northern ND farmer’s son, 3, dies after falling out of tractor cab, run over by tires

SOURIS, N.D. -- A northern North Dakota farmer's 3-year-old son fell out of his tractor on Tuesday morning and got run over by the rear tires.Killed in the accident two miles north of Newburg was Burke Henry.

SOURIS, N.D. -- A northern North Dakota farmer’s 3-year-old son fell out of his tractor on Tuesday morning and got run over by the rear tires.

Killed in the accident two miles north of Newburg was Burke Henry.

His father, Joseph Henry, 39, of Souris, N.D., was driving a John Deere 8960 tractor pulling a disk on the roadway when his son who was riding inside the cab fell out of the left side door that flew open, said the North Dakota Highway Patrol. He was run over by the left rear tires of the moving tractor and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Patrol said.

Newburg is about 50 miles northeast of Minot. Souris is about 25 miles farther northeast of Newburg.

The accident occurred about 11 a.m. as the Henrys were heading south towards Newburg.

The Patrol is still investigating the accident.

The Westhope Ambulance Service and Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office were also at the scene.
