Frankie Dettori simply brilliant again as Star Catcher lands the Irish Oaks
FRANKIE DETTORI delivered a front-running masterclass in the Irish Oaks as he guided Star Catcher to a brilliant victory.
John Gosden's filly bounced out of the stalls and Dettori quickly sent her to the front with nobody else in the field keen to make the pace.
Under a perfectly timed front-running ride, Dettori was given an easy lead with the main Irish contenders out the back of the field.
Dettori never looked in trouble and having stacked up the field on the turn for home he kicked clear with Star Catcher.
The likes of Iridessa and Pink Dogwood tried to make up ground from the rear of the field but it was too little too late.
Fleeting eventually emerged as the closest challenger and having got within touching distance of Star Catcher, Dettori's filly pulled out more suggesting there was plenty left in the tank.
Favourite Pink Dogwood ran on for third.
