How To Lose Weight The 'My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding' Way: The Salt And Vinegar Diet (VIDEO)

'My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding' Offers Bizarre Diet Tricks

The weddings may be fat, but the brides certainly are not, and on Sunday night's episode of "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on TLC) viewers picked up some handy weight loss tips.

How do the girls stay so slim? It turned out that just like their Romany cousins across the pond, these Romanichal gypsy girls eat a lot of malt vinegar and salt.

However, unlike the Brits, they don't sprinkle them on their chips (fries): They put them on fruit.

"We do apples in vinegar, cucumbers in vinegar, anything in vinegar," explained 14-year-old Nookie. Yum! But, she added, there are limits to what you can drench in salt and vinegar: "We don't do bananas in vinegar. Blech."

"My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
