Edward J. "Ed" Johnson

JOHNSON Edward J. "Ed", Oklahoma City Geologist, born January 5, 1918 in Ellinwood, Kansas, died Febuary 27, 1999. Survived by a daughter, Steffanie LeCompte, her husband, Jeff and their three boys, J.P., Nick and Joseph, all of Bethany. Ed's wife, Ruby and son, Ronald both died in 1996. Ed was inducted in the U.S. Army as a Private on December 17, 1941 and separated a Major, Corps of Engineers, March 1, 1945. He served in New Guinea and the Phillippines. While in the Philippines, Ed was assigned to work with some of the East Central Luzon guerrillas; he was in Manila, part of the force preparing to invade Japan, when the war ended. Ed was a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines in May of 1949 with the professional degree in Geological Engineering. He donated his body to medical research. There will be no services.
