Finland Retail Sales Fall In July

Finland's retail sales decreased in July from a year ago, preliminary figures from Statistics Finland showed Wednesday.

Retail sales value fell 0.3 percent year-over-year in July. However, the price-adjusted volume of retail sales grew by 0.9 percent annually in July.

Sales value of daily consumer goods contracted 2.8 percent annually in July and volume declined by 1.2 percent from the corresponding period of the previous year.

For the January to July period, retail sales value decreased by 1.1 percent and volume declined by 0.1 percent from the corresponding period of the preceding year.

The retail trade flash estimate is based on a sample covering, on the average, 60 percent of retail trade turnover. The statistical office will publish final sales data on September 15.
