Sarah Harding has confirmed her split from Chad Johnson, following their three-month whirlwind romance. 

The former Girls Aloud star confirmed the news in a statement, revealing that their transatlantic romance was too difficult to maintain. 

She confessed: 'It is with sadness that I can now confirm my relationship with Chad is over.

'The distance has proved too much of an obstacle even though we both tried to make it work.'

The 35-year-old singer hinted that their split was amicable however, adding: 'I wish him all the best for the future and thank him for the memories we shared during a very interesting summer.' 

Chad is yet to comment on the break-up.

Sarah's split confirmation comes shortly after The Sun claimed that she had blocked Chad from her life after he ceased to stop flirting with other women. 

It was alleged that the singer was infuriated by the reality star incessantly liking girls' pictures on social media.

Sarah hinted at a split last week after she posted a snap that read 'love hurts' alongside a broken heart emoji, while adding further fuel to the rumours as she described herself as his 'soon to be ex'.

In the now-deleted posts, Sarah was talking to an Instagram follower who claimed to be Chad's neighbor back in the States when she made the telling comment.

Sarah told the woman: 'Looks aren't everything hun believe me.'

After the fan replied saying, 'I'm his neighbour', Sarah shot back: 'I'm his girlfriend, or soon to be ex lol so cheers for clarifying.'

Eagle-eyed fans pounced on the comment, asking: 'Why is it soon to be ex?'

Sarah left them further in suspense as she responded simply: 'Go figure.'

Chad's representative declined to comment on the claims at the time.

But seeming to prove they were very much still a couple, Sarah enjoyed an idyllic holiday in Los Angeles with him last month.

They were spotted packing on the PDA at the airport and during many romantic outings in the city.

The star has been working on her music career in LA and recently put her UK mansion up for sale, fuelling speculation that she was planning a permanent move stateside.

The public display of romance came after Sarah hinted that things weren't exactly perfect between the pair earlier this year, when she revealed that Chad had returned to California alone.

And her revelation came shortly after it was reported that he was using dating app Bumble, despite the new couple claiming they were in love with one another.

Speaking on ITV's Loose Women, Sarah said of their relationship at the time: 'It's going OK. He's gone back to LA now so I don't know...'

And revealing that she would try to go over and visit him as much as possible, she continued: 'I've got some work possibly lined up in LA in next few weeks.' 

Talking about former bandmate Nadine Coyle, who lives in LA with her partner Jason Bell and their daughter Anaiya, she revealed: 'She always does that [go back and forth].

'I might be back over there, who knows. We spent a week together outside the house, but we've got our own lives to get on with. I'm still acclimatising and getting used to real life!'
