Judge creates committee to address courthouse overcrowding

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Randolph County judge hopes a new committee can help solve a problem at the courthouse.

Judge David Jansen said space inside the Randolph County Courthouse has become a problem.

It is an issue the county has been dealing with for some time, and it has only gotten worse.

Things like stored documents and books from officers have been moved to six pallets in the hallways and in Jansen's office.

So he created a committee to work on the issue.

"It's time to look," Jansen said. "We can't just keep piling up in the aisles, you know, or just throwing things around. The law tells us there are certain ways we have to handle certain documents, so it's just time to start looking."

Four members of the Randolph County Quorum Court make up the new committee.

The first meeting will be held in June since election items are filling up their meeting room in the courthouse annex.

Jansen hopes the committee has a solution before the next budget.
