Sally J. Giannopoulos 
(March 15, 1945 - September 1, 2013) 

Sally J. Giannopoulos, nee Secor, 68, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday September 1, 2013 after a valiant fight with metastatic breast cancer. ADORED wife and best friend of 43 years to George. Loving mother of Thomas (Kimberly), Carolyn (Gary Brown) and Steven (Ashley Edwards). Beloved Grandma of Nicholas and Matthew and doting, loving ‘Ama’ of Megan. Loving second "Mom" to Michael Weiss. Cherished daughter of the late Ellis and the late Caroline (Schuch) and devoted niece of the late Susanna and the late Irma Schuch. Dear sister of Cathy (Joseph) Johnson and John (Gail) Secor. Loving aunt, dear friend and “foster mom” of many puppies. Sally’s beautiful essence touched all of our lives. A long time member of IBEW Local 134 Pari-Mutuel Tellers. Sally was not only a smiling face on the teller line at the Chicagoland area race tracks but she also met the love of her life there. Visitation at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714, Wednesday from 3-9pm. She will be lying in state on Thursday from 9:00am until the time of the service at 10:30am at St. John Lutheran Church, 7429 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, 9900 N. Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Sally fought her cancer with grace, courage, dignity and laughter. Our families’ hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful wife, proud mother, devoted grandmother and wonderful friend. We pray that a cure for this wretched disease will come soon and encourage everyone to join the fight against cancer. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences during this time.
