Train Strikes, Kills Track Worker Near Bowie State
MARC and Amtrak service has been suspended in the area as authorities investigate.
BOWIE, MD -- A track worker has died after being struck by an Amtrak train near the Bowie State MARC train station.
Firefighters and medics located the victim about a half mile from the station, tweeted Rail Transit OPS Group, an independent rail operations monitoring organization.
Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George's County Fire and Rescue, tweeted that the victim was dead upon arrival.

MARC and Amtrak service in the area is suspended.
"This may take a little longer than usual," Rail Transit OPS Group tweeted at around 10:30 a.m. "[T]he NTSB [National Transportation Safety Board] is en route to investigate the fatal train strike of a track worker outside Bowie State #MARC station."
