David Kasowski

David Kasowski, 61 of Hartford, SD, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 27, 2018.

David "Dave" Michael Kasowski, son of Harold and Marian (Von Bank) Kasowski, was born on July 4, 1957, in Fargo, ND. He grew up on the family farm near Buffalo, ND, and was a 1975 graduate from Buffalo High School. After graduation, he attended North Dakota State College of Science where he received his Diesel Mechanic Associates Degree. Dave began his career in Bismarck, ND as a diesel mechanic with Butler Machinery and advanced his way to lead man before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1991 as Service Manager Heavy Equipment.

Dave was united in marriage with Marcia (Kistler) Tonsager in 1995 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Hartford, SD, in 1999, where they raised their family and built their home.

Dave loved life and lived it to the fullest. Material things mattered little; his family and friends of the community were what he cherished most. Dave enjoyed the outdoors, always working AKA "playing" in the yard or farming. He was a devoted husband and father. He taught his children the values of honesty, faith and integrity. Dave loved his community and took every opportunity to give praise and lend a listening ear to the kids and friends at school activities and at church. His impact on the lives of his family and friends will forever be cherished.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marcia; children Stephanie Tonsager Ellison (Kevin), Nichole Tonsager Waters (Matthew), both Colton, SD, Samantha and Jacob, both Hartford, SD; parents Harold and Marian Kasowski, Buffalo, ND; brothers Dale (Mary), Bismarck, ND, Buck (Carrie), Grand Forks, ND, Mike (Gail) Fisher, MN; sisters Nancy Weisbeck (Al), Bismarck, ND, Donna Ray Kasowski, Goodyear, AZ; father in law Gary (Genie) Kistler, brothers-in-law, Mark (Lisa), Dell Rapids, SD, Dave, Dan (Danann), both of Hartford, SD, sister-in-law Kim (Brad) Moffett, Owatonna, MN; 5 grandchildren, Jaime, Lucas, and Ally Ellison, Elizabeth "Lizzy" and Liam Waters; and many other relatives.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother-in-law Judy Kistler and brother-in-law Tim Kistler.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11 am on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at St. George Catholic Church with burial at the St. George Cemetery, Hartford, SD.
