Staff Reporter

North Central Street in East Bridgewater is closed while police K9 and SWAT units search for several people suspected of taking part in an armed home invasion around 3 a.m.

As of noon, the search was continuing, with dozens of heavily armed officers and at least 20 vehicles, including SWAT armored trucks, responding.

East Bridgewater police said at least six masked people came into the house on North Central Street and robbed the people inside. Police reported they have found at least one of the weapons used in the home invasion, and have arrested at least five people in connection with the home invasion. Officials don't believe the attack was random.

A person in the North Central Street home suffered minor injuries during the incident, and neighbors gathered throughout the morning in front of their homes to watch the action. No other injuries were reported.

Police believe all the suspects were armed and fled into the heavily wooded area. In addition to the weapon, police recovered a bag full of expensive designer sneakers.

A reverse 911 call was placed this morning to inform residents of the search. A second reverse 911 call is anticipated, police said.
