Shreveport, La. (AP) - The New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys will play an NFL exhibition game in Shreveport on August 21st. A news conference to announce the game will be held later Thursday at Independence stadium, the site of the game.

Mayor Keith Hightower says Saints owner Tom Benson and New Saints head coach Sean Peyton are expected to be in town for the announcement. The Monday night game will be televised on ESPN.

The Saints will play their home exhibition games outside New Orleans because the Superdome will not be repaired until the regular season starts. It was damaged during hurricane Katrina. The Saints and Cowboys held a scrimmage at Independence stadium in 1998.
