He was in South Africa for eight weeks working on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here and it seems distance and a busy schedule may have put tension on Dr Chris Brown and girlfriend Kassandra Clementi's relationship.

The 36-year-old celebrity vet and 23-year-old Home And Away star are reported to have called it quits by the Daily Telegraph,  with sources saying strain was put on the relationship by Chris' extended stay abroad.

The pair made their relationship public early last year with Kassandra sharing Chris' love for animals.

They have kept their romance largely private however, refraining from posting loved-up snaps to social media and regularly declining to speak about their private lives.

Bondi Vet star Chris has previously dated sports reporter Roz Kelly and actress Zoe Ventoura, who is now engaged to presenter Daniel McPherson.

Since returning to Australia from his two month stint in South Africa, the handsome blond has been spotted back in the surf in Bondi.

Meanwhile Kassandra, who plays cancer-stricken teenager Maddy on the long-running soap, was seen putting on a brave face on Thursday as she attended the opening night of Les Miserables after her father tragically passed away a fortnight ago.

The actress posed alongside her former co-star and rumoured former boyfriend Andrew Morley in a slinky navy blue dress.

It was the first time the young star has been out publicly since she lost her father. 

She took to Instagram on the day of his funeral to express her sadness and share some old photos of herself with her dad.

She wrote: 'After the most indescribably hard 12 days. Today we finally got to send you off. Rest in peace my Daddy..forever your little princess x.'

Dr. Chris was a fan favourite while hosting I'm A Celebrity and often drew the attention of both his co-host, comedienne Julia Morris, and the famous contestants.

After spending the season warding off thinly veiled pick up lines and a string of flirtatious comments from funnywoman Julia, he was swooned over by the competition winner Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff.

The former English cricketer told The Project: 'The biggest thing I'm gonna miss from the jungle is Dr. Chris Brown.

'I look at him and I think you know what if I had looked after myself a little bit better, that could've been me. He's a man that I could've been!'
