Reflecting on the place of music in spiritual practice since ancient times, this program explores the influence of mystical and religious preoccupations, such as Buddhism and Sufism, on the work of three contemporary musicians: Turkish maestro Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Australian percussionist Michael Askill and shakuhachi player Riley Lee. Historian and audio producer Harvey Broadbent has created an impressionistic musical mix to capture the mood of these musicians and to illustrate cultural cross-over and collaboration in music performance.
