'Nature Boy' Ric Flair says he slept with 10,000 women and had 15 drinks a day

There are few gimmicks in the world of professional wrestling that were as brash, captivating and believable as “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who will be remembered as one of the most influential men in the history of the business.

In an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary set to air Tuesday night, director Rory Karpf chronicle the life of The Nature Boy through interviews with dozens of wrestlers, wrestling executives, family members, friends and fans – along with Flair himself.

Nature Boy will air on ESPN at 10:00 p.m. ET. You can stream the documentary online or with a mobile device via Watch ESPN.

According to Flair and those around him, The Nature Boy wasn’t just a character he played on television, it was a lifestyle that consumed his every waking hour, nearly resulting in his death.

In the documentary, which highlights Flair’s weaknesses as thoroughly as his strengths, the 68-year-old says that when he was on the road traveling from show to show, he’d typically drink 10 beers and five cocktails a day – a habit which persisted for decades. Flair once visited a psychologist, who was shocked to find out just how much alcohol Flair consumed.

“[The psychologist asked] ‘How much do you drink a day?’

I said, ‘I’ll drink at least 10 beers, and probably five mixed drinks.’

He said, ‘Well, how many days a week do you do that?’

I said, ‘Every day.’

He said, ‘Well, how do you mean every day?’

I said, ‘I work every day. I drink a beer in the car, I get to the hotel and I drink vodka.’

He came out of his chair and (he said), ‘You drink every day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and you’ve been doing that for how long?’

I said, ‘Well, let me see. It’s 1989, I started in ’72, you do the math. Almost 20 years.’

He said, ‘That’s not possible.’ I said, ‘Oh yeah, it is.’

By the time I got through with that son of a [expletive], he was laying on the couch and I was on the chair talking to him.”

Flair, who has been married four times, also claims he slept with 10,000 women over the course of his life.
