Babyface inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Indianapolis' Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. 

The list of inductees, released Wednesday, also includes Jay Z; Berry Gordy; Chicago's Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera; pop songwriter Max Martin; and five-time Grammy winning songwriting duo Jimmy James and Terry Lewis. The awards banquet is June 15 in New York City. 

Babyface, an Indianapolis native and North Central High School graduate, has written and produced songs for Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Ariana Grande, TLC, Bobby Brown, Mary J. Blige, 'N Sync, Fall Out Boy and Toni Braxton. He co-founded LaFace Records with L.A. Reid in 1989 and has won 11 Grammy Awards.

He has written or produced more than 50 top 10 pop hits and 16 No. 1 hit songs. 

The Songwriters Hall of Fame was created in 1969 to honor songwriters.

Tickets to the  48th annual awards dinner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City start at $1,250 each.
