2015 Soccer Preview: Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Head coach Frank Davies of Alabama A&M University enters his sixteenth season with the Bulldogs looking to build a stronger resume to counteract their 2014 3-13-4, 3-4-3 record.
Last season, the Bulldogs were led by freshman duo Margaret Sesay and Fatmata Mansaray, Estelle Esperance and Ana Huertas. Sesay claimed a team-high eight goals with 16 points on the season - with a shooting percentage of .381. She was joined by Mansaray who managed six goals and three assists for a total of 15 points. Both student-athletes are from Freetown, Sierra Leone.
After losing Huertas (who managed four goals and six assists for a team-high 14 points), the Bulldogs look to Esperance to push the team to new heights as she enters the year with an All-SWAC, second team accolade under her belt. She cleared the way for herself after scoring five goals with one assist for 11 points last season.
The Bulldogs ended post season play after falling in the opening round of the SWAC soccer tournament to Howard University, 6-0. The Bison beat the young Alabama A&M squad behind three goals from Nia Walcott, including one penalty kick.
This year Alabama A&M will face new opponent UNC Ashville, as well as Georgia State for the first time since 2010.
