“The construction of the walking track is in its final stages and the walkway will be made operational by the second week of March, ” said a GHMC official.
“We will name the park area ‘therapeutic garden’,” the official added. The therapeutic garden is spread over one acre inside Indira Park.
In addition to providing citizens a space to exercise and stay physically active, the area has 40 varieties of medicinal and herbal plants which are in regular use at homestead plants. Apart from the acupressure walking track, there are four other tracks which are in the shape of number ‘8’.

“These tracks designed in an exclusive shape , measurement and direction are good for diabetic patients,” said a GHMC official. “Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) minister KT Rama Rao directed Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) to develop such parks in other areas too,” read a statement issued by GHMC.
The walk is a circular track developed using eight components. Stones of three types, 6mm chips, rough sand, tree bark, black soil and water. “This track is a boon to senior citizens and persons who have knee issues, joint pains and cannot walk for longer distances,” read a statement issued by GHMC.
“A sculpture of Gautama Buddha has been placed at the centre of the park and two water cascades to generate calming sound are also being developed,” officials said.
