School Physicals and Immunizations: The Cumberland County Department of Public Health Child Health Clinic at 1235 Ramsey St. provides kindergarten and school physicals, along with Head Start, sports and camp physicals. The clinic is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with extended hours until 7 p.m. on second and fourth Tuesdays and Thursdays. All required vaccines and other recommended vaccinations are available. Crisis Intervention Program: The Salvation Army is accepting applications from families and individuals who are experiencing a cooling-related crisis. Applications may be made at 310 Dick St., Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Limited funds are available and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until they run out or the program ends. 910-483-8119

Precinct Workers Needed: Cumberland County Board of Elections is seeking precinct workers for the Nov. 8 general election. Cumberland Soil and Water Conservation District: Rain barrels can be purchased for $40 at the district office at 301 E. Mountain Drive, Suite 229. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. All proceeds from rain barrel sales go toward supporting youth educational programs in Cumberland County. Cash and checks are accepted. School Supplies Drive: The Cumberland County Register of Deeds office is collecting school supplies to make book bags for homeless children. Pencils, pens, notebooks, paper, rulers, glue sticks, tooth brushes and tooth paste are needed. Ray and Joan: The Women’s Giving Circle of Cumberland County in conjunction with the Cumberland County Public Library present two book discussions and a movie that feature the book, "Ray and Joan: The Man Who Made the McDonald’s Fortune and the Woman Who Gave it All Away." A movie, "The Founder," was based on the book. Book discussions are Aug. 8 at Headquarters Library and Aug. 16 at North Regional Branch, both at 6 p.m. The movie will be screened Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. at Headquarters Library. The CARE Clinic: Free basic health care services to uninsured, low-income adult residents of Cumberland County and surrounding areas. Services include basic medical care, dental extractions and clinic-ordered prescription medications. Clinics are held Tuesdays and Thursdays and the second and fourth Wednesdays after 5 p.m. A diabetic clinic is held Tuesday afternoons. To schedule an appointment, call 910-485-0555.
