Monday, more than $200,000 was donated to support a local mobile mammography unit, and an area event is giving community members a first-hand look.

Marshfield Clinic says less than 20 percent of mammography sites are in the northern half of the state.

Therefore, the mammography units were created to screen more women in rural parts of Wisconsin. Monday, Associated Bank donated $250,000 to support three units that screen nearly 10,000 women annually in Wisconsin.

"There's a great group of people that work with the unit and help women schedule out, then also if they don't have enough coverage with their health insurance, they help them get resources as well,” said Theresa O’Neel with Associated Bank.

Right now, the Eau Claire Chamber Business After Hours is hosting an event at Cowboy Jack’s in Altoona. Community members can get a tour and learn more until 6:30 p.m.

To schedule a mammography appointment, you can call Marshfield Clinic Mobile Services at 715-389-3822 or 715-221-6086. The services are available Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4 pm. For questions about payment assistance, you can call 1-800-782-8581, ext. 9-4475
