Alaska Man Makes Bogus 911 Calls To Divert Chasing Cops: Troopers

State police say they saw Clayton Nelson of Kasilof, on Saturday and tried to stop him for an outstanding felony warrant in an assault case.

KASILOF, AK — A Kenai Peninsula man made bogus 911 calls in an attempt to divert officers during a police chase, state police said.

State police said they saw Clayton Nelson, 23, of Kasilof, on Saturday and tried to stop him for an outstanding felony warrant in an assault case. The troopers arrested him, and investigators later determined he had placed the phony calls.

Nelson is charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, assault and terroristic threatening, along with driving with a revoked license and violating conditions of his release. He remains in jail without bail at the Wildwood Pretrial Facility in Kenai. A message left with the Kenai public defender's office was not immediately returned.
