NJ girls soccer: Meet the 2018 All-Shore Team

Here is the 2018 All-Shore Girls Soccer Team:

ALEXA PETO

School: Tom River North 

Year: Sophomore

Position: Forward

Highlights: Peto scored the game-winning goal in the 28th minute as Toms River North defeated Red Bank Catholic, 1-0, in the Shore Conference Tournament Final on Oct. 24. For the season and for her career, Peto had 10 goals and four assists.

DARIEN RINN

School: Middletown North

Year: Junior

Position: Forward

Highlights: Rinn had a career year with 20 goals and she also had two assists. She was a strong, athletic forward with great speed and a knack for finding the back of the net. Rinn had two hat tricks this season, the second coming in a 4-1 win against Marlboro in the SCT quarterfinals. Rinn was the team’s leading scorer as the Lions went 21-2 record and sett the school record for most wins in a season. With Rinn’s leadership, Middletown North won the NJSIAA North 2 Group 3 Sectional title and the Class B North Division title.

FRANKIE MCDONOUGH

School: Shore

Year: Senior

Position: Forward

Highlights: McDonough was a four-year starter and was the team’s best player. She accumulated 23 goals and 14 assists this season while helping the Blue Devils go 17-6 and make a deep run in the NJSIAA Group I Tournament. McDonough once again led the team in both goals and assists this season. For her career, McDonough had 109 goals and 68 assists.

Girls soccer: Shore Conference Coaches All-Division teams

JULIA EICHENBAUM

School: Shore

Year: Junior

Position: Forward

Highlights: Eichenbaum makes her first appearance on the All-Shore first team after she was selected to the All-Shore second team last season. In 2018, Eichenbaum had 22 goals (second on the team) and eight assists as she helped Shore secure its seventh straight NJSIAA Central Group 1 title.

MARISA TAVA

School: Toms River North

Year: Senior

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: Tava was one of the best midfielders in the Shore Conference and controlled the middle of the field for the Mariners this season. She recorded six goals and nine assists in 2018 and for her career amassed 22 goals and 29 assists. She committed to play at the University of Pittsburgh.

HANNAH BIRDSALL

School: Shore

Year: Senior

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: Birdsall played forward and midfielder for the Blue Devils this season and was selected as a first team midfielder for the Class A Central division this season. Birdsall had a tremendous ability to finish near the net and could pressure on the defense at any moment in a game. For the season, she had eight goals and 12 assists (second on the team). For her career, Birdsall had 59 goals and 47 assists.

Shore Conference athletes of the year poll end, winners announced

JULIANA RAFANIELLO

School: Red Bank Catholic

Year: Senior

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: Rafaniello was a four-year starter for the Caseys and was picked as the co-Class A Central player of the year by the Shore Conference Coaches. For the season, she had 13 goals and two assists. For her career, she finished with 43 goals and 22 assists and played holding midfielder, attacking midfielder and forward. She’s committed to play soccer at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

CAROLINE O’CONNOR

School: Red Bank Catholic

Year: Senior

Position: Midfielder

Highlights: O’Connor is a four-year letter winner for the Caseys. She’s played holding midfielder for four years and was tied for a team-high eight assists this season to go along with eight goals. For her career, she had eight goals and 23 assists. O’Connor is an outstanding defender, excellent in the air, winning balls and starting the offensive attack. Committed to play at Virginia Tech in 2019

EMILY ROYSON

School: Toms River North

Year: Junior

Position: Defender

Highlights: Royson was the team’s top defender and helped the Mariners secure three shutouts during the SCT run. The Mariners only gave up one goal in the SCT en route to winning the title. For the season, Royson had 11 goals and five assists. For her career, Royson had 20 goals and 10 assists. She’s committed to play at Duke University.

GABRIELLA TRIOLO

School: Middletown North

Year: Senior

Position: Defender

Highlights: Triolo has been a four-year starter and the anchor on a defense that earned 11 shutouts this season. Triolo is an incredibly patient and composed defender that organizes her team and reads the game very well. Triolo was a team captain for the Lions as she led them to their first NJSIAA Sectional title since 2005 and first Shore Conference Division title since 2007. Triolo committed to Kean University.

JESSICA JUDGE

School: Freehold Township

Position: Defender

Year: Senior

Highlights: Judge made her first appearance on the All-Shore First team this season after she was selected for the All-Shore First Team last season. Judge was the team’s center back and she led the Patriots to their third straight Class A North title. Over the last three years, Freehold Township hasn’t lost a Class A North game. For the season, Judge had three goals and five assists. For her career, she had four goals and seven assists.

KAYSIE LOURO

School: Jackson Memorial

Year: Senior

Position: Defender

Highlights: Louro has been a top defender in the Shore Conference for a while and once again proved that this season. She makes her first appearance on the All-Shore First Team after being selected for the All-Shore Second Team last season. She led the Jaguars to a 9-7-2 record which included six shutouts.

HALEY MARTIN

School: Middletown North

Year: Senior

Position: Goalie

Highlights: Martin has been a four-year starter for the Lions and is a vocal leader on the field for the Lions. In her four years, Martin had 517 career saves and set the school record with 28 career shutouts. As a senior, Martin was a team captain and led her team to the most wins in school history with a record of 21-2, and she had 11 shutouts and only gave up only 13 goals in 21 games. Martin has committed to play at Saint Peter’s University.
