Sheila Sparks Riley McNeeley, 59, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at her home. Born Sept. 23, 1957, in Connersville, she was the daughter of Earl Louis and Hazel Pennington Sparks, who survive.

Sheila had worked for 11 years at Thornton’s, loved to have time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid animal lover.

Surviving Sheila are her parents, Earl Louis and Hazel Pennington Sparks of Columbus; her children, Tonja (Scott) Yarling of Shelbyville, Shawn A. (Jamie) Riley of Columbus and Chelsey (Brandon) Auxier of Madison; her brother, Kevin Earl (Laura) Sparks of Milton, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Bailey, Blake, Bryce and Brooklyn Yarling of Shelbyville, Nathaniel and Nolan Riley, Cheyanne and Andrew Hodson of Columbus, and Maddison Auxier of Madison; and her Faithful Friend, Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her son, Shane Anthony Lucas, and her husband, Russell R. Riley.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25thStreet, followed by  a celebration of Sheila’s life at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Dale Lucas presiding.

In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, cremation is planned with private inurnment to be at a later date .
