A man was arrested Sunday at an extended stay hotel in Casselberry, accused of leaving two young children unsupervised in a room with a loaded handgun.

Emari Deonte Jackson, 25, told police he left the kids, ages 3 and 4, alone in the second-floor room at the HomeTowne Studios & Suites on Oxford Road so that he could go get them pancakes at a nearby Denny’s restaurant, according to an arrest report.

Police were investigating threats Jackson had made against the kids’ mother — including, “I will kill you and end your existence,” the report said — when they went to the hotel to find him.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the officers were also alerted to a post Jackson had made on Facebook: “I need to smoke for I go on a killing spree,” he wrote, according to the report.

Police said Jackson admitted leaving the kids alone but refused to tell officers in which room he had left them. When officers found them, they said they spotted a loaded handgun protruding from a bag in the room. They also found a bulletproof vest, the report said.

Jackson was arrested on several charges, including domestic assault, unsafe storage of a firearm and child abuse. He remained in the Seminole County Jail on Monday without bail.
