U Vermont DEPN '17

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone!

Who else is applying to the DEPN for Fall '18?!

It seems like a great program, but I was reading previous discussions and the question of accreditation came up - is the DEPN program CCNE accredited? On the UVM website it's not clear - it says Master's and baccalaureate programs are CCNE accredited, but it doesn't mention the DEPN?

I suppose I'll email someone at UVM, but I figured I would check with you all first, plus we can start an "Anxious DEPN Applicants Awaiting Admission Decisions" forum here...haha! Best of luck!

Hello,

Did you find out this information? I went onto the Accreditation site itself and it seems to be fine.

I got accepted last week to the the Adult-Gerontology DEPN program.

All the best!

I eamiled a montg or so ago and forgot to post the reply! So this is what the grad department said: "We have 10 year cycles where we need to be re-accredited and follow the process required by AACN when a new program begins as with our DNP program. We received a visit from the AACN during the mid process which went well and the completion will not occur until the first cohort of DNP students graduate in 2018. We do not anticipate any difficulties." So, sounds good to me! Which makes me so happy, I got my acceptance to the FNP track a few days ago! Congrats on your acceptance, maybe I'll see you soon?!

Awesome! Congratulations! Thank you so much! We should get in touch as I think you are also from California?

Are you definitely going to UVM? I'm a little nervous about making such a big move, I definitely have my life here. But this is my dream to be an FNP!

Well I made the deposit. Yes it is a big move! I have lived here my whole life. Do you have some other options you're thinking of ???

Me too! I made the deposit, I'm waitlisted at another school closer to home, but it starts in June, so it kind of works out. The UVM program seems really great, and I love that they have their own medical center, it's definitely a tough choice (assuming I have a choice to make).

Is it another ELMSN FNP program too?

It's another DNP/FNP, like this one, out of state still, but on the West Coast at least... I don't want to get too personal on such a public forum, I was going to PM you but apparently I haven't been on here long enough to do that, haha?! Anyway, I actually applied to in-state ELMSNs also, and those are the ones I didn't get in to, oddly enough.
