Freddie Freeman, Nolan Arenado Among NL's Top 2018 MLB All-Star Vote Leaders

Major League Baseball revealed its first 2018 All-Star Game voting ballot update for the National League on Monday, and Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper lead the voting.

The Braves top all NL teams with three projected starters: Freeman, second baseman Ozzie Albies and outfielder Nick Markakis.

Freeman, 28, is having a superb season, hitting .340 with 12 homers and 45 RBI. His production has helped fuel the 37-28 Braves, who are one of the biggest surprises of the season.

The ascent of second-year player Albies (.256 with 15 homers and 36 RBI) and the steady production of Markakis (.327 with eight home runs and 43 RBI) have also helped propel the Braves into playoff contention.

Arenado, meanwhile, has blasted 12 homers and 36 RBI while hitting .314. Harper is having another signature season with an NL-leading 19 home runs to go along with 43 RBI, though he's batting just .228.

One of the better stories among the potential NL starting All-Stars is Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp. He had a mediocre season for the Braves last year but has rebounded in a big way, hitting .338 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI.

A pair of San Francisco Giants rounds out the group of potential starters. Shortstop Brandon Crawford is having an excellent year, hitting .338 with eight homers and 30 RBI, while catcher Buster Posey (.294 with four homers and 24 RBI) remains one of the most consistent players at the position.
