Crash closes OR 51 north of Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – A crash caused emergency personnel and the Oregon Department of Transportation to close Highway 51 north of Independence Wednesday morning.

ODOT said the highway closed around 8 a.m.

Officials say this will be an extended closure for a law enforcement investigation and reconstruction.

ODOT established detours for southbound travelers taking Greenwood Road, to Rickreall Road to OR 99W and northbound travelers taking Stryker Road to Hoffman Road to OR 99W.

Drivers should expect delays.
