Community Foundation taking scholarship applications

ZANESVILLE - Three scholarships offered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation have application deadlines of Aug. 1.

The Forest M. and Meryl C. Cale Scholarship will be awarded to current college students from Muskingum County. The Charles and Mary Lou Heck Educational Scholarship is for a Muskingum County resident planning on attending an accredited college, technical college, university, adult center or graduate school. The John Earhart Memorial Scholarship is for a current social work major with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher at Zane State College or Ohio University Zanesville.

Operation Arctic planned

GRATIOT - Operation Arctic Vacation Bible school will be from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. July 15 to 20 at Gratiot United Methodist Church, 345 South St., Gratiot, for ages 3 to eighth grade. A program and potluck will be at 6:30 p.m. July 20. For info, call Karla Jones at 740-877-5738.

Shawnee Second Saturday event upcoming

SHAWNEE - Shawnee Second Saturday festivities will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, on Main Street in the village. Musical guest will be Aubrey Riley. There will be soft drinks, snacks and beer at Tecumseh Commons along with other food, vendors and a street fair.

Ice cream social planned

HOPEWELL - An ice cream social will be from 4 to 7 p.m. July 28 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. There will be sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, homemade desserts and ice cream.
