Former Judas Priest star’s guitar stuns auction bosses in London

A 1967 Flying V guitar once owned by former Judas Priest rocker K.K. Downing has stunned the auction world by selling for 10 times more than expected.
Experts at Bonhams in London, who sold off 11 of Downing’s guitars on Tuesday (11Dec18), were stunned when the axe he played on several albums, including Sad Wings Of Destiny and Point Of Entry, went under the hammer for $189,000 (£150,000).
It was expected to fetch between $19,000 and $23,000 (£15,000 and £18,000).
Meanwhile, K.K.’s 1971 Gibson Flying V Medallion guitar also sold well over the expected price, with bids reaching $102,000 (£81,250).
Downing announced he was leaving Judas Priest in 2011.
