The San Francisco 49ers head on the road in Week 2 for what might be their toughest game of the week. The 49ers travel north to face the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. The game kicks off at 1:25 p.m. PT on FOX, with Sam Rosen, David Diehl, and Jen Hale calling the game.
Both teams are looking for their first win of the season. The 49ers were thumped at home by the Carolina Panthers 23-3, thanks to poor offensive line play, and some significant mental mistakes on defense. The Seahawks lost 17-9 on the road against the Green Bay Packers. Their offensive line was the primary culprit in the loss. I guess we’ll see which offensive line is worse on Sunday!
The 49ers are a 14-point underdog in this one, and I am indeed going to lay the points with Seattle. I’m not normally a fan of laying double digit points, but a road game in Seattle does not bode well for the 49ers. I think they could give the Seahawks offense some trouble, but I don’t know how they’re going to get enough points on the board against that defense.
The 49ers head into the game with rookie linebacker Reuben Foster ruled out, and free safety Jimmie Ward listed as questionable. Ward has said he feels 100 percent, and Kyle Shanahan said Friday was his best day of practice thus far. But at the very least, the trainers likely want to see how the hamstring reacts to pre-game warmups. The Seahawks will likely be without linebacker Terence Garvin, who is doubtful with a shoulder injury. Cornerback Richard Sherman is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, but is expected to play.
