BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — A 29-year-old man died this past weekend after a two-story fall during the Chicago Open Air Festival at Toyota Park.

At 10:05 p.m. Friday, witnesses and friends reported that the man had been sitting on a railing at the mezzanine level and fell to the concrete. It appeared to have been an accident.

The man, identified as Robert Smucz, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn following the fall. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s said he died at 10:50 p.m.

Friday was the first of three days at the Open Air festival. The festival offers craft beer, bands and “gourmet man food,” at 70th Street and Harlem Avenue.
