An amazing seven-year-old has been wowing crowds and raising vital funds for a food bank - all thanks to her faultless flute playing.

Talented Amelia Durdy from Harworth takes her instrument wherever she goes and never turns down an opportunity to entertain admiring onlookers.

But she has now turned her playing prowess into a way of making money to buy items for a food bank.

Amelia has been seen performing in Retford, Harworth, Worksop and numerous other towns and cities and has built up her own fanbase.

Amelia said: "It's great! I just picked up the flute and learnt it and I love playing it for people.

"I love entertaining people.

"I am working towards getting my Grade 6 exam later this year."

And she has a very particular reason for wanting to carry on her charitable exploits.

"I really want to help people - food banks are very close to my heart. And I absolutely love food!" she said.

Amelia's proud mum Fiona says her daughter's life revolves around music.

"She spends a lot of her time playing music - it's what she loves. It's what her whole life is about," she said.

"She likes to get out and about and she's performed everywhere. People love watching her and she gets so much positive feedback from them.

"People have been really supportive and give money so generously. All of that goes towards food we buy together and then deliver it to a food bank. She's raised hundreds of pounds."

Among Amelia's most recent performances is appearances at The Chequers Inn at Ranby, All Saints' Church in Harworth and she has also performed alongside well known Retford singer Jessica Mary Brett, as well as street shows in Retford, Harworth, Worksop, Doncaster, York and Huddersfield.

And her repertoire covers a wide range of styles, with classical and jazz pieces mixed in with music hall favourites and film scores.

Her ultimate ambition is to carry on playing and, one day, perform with the Doncaster Jazz Orchestra.

Not only can she play the flute to a high standard but can also hold her own on the piano.

She has her own Facebook page too, where her fans can keep bang up-to-date with her latest performances.
