Texas man killed in Hwy 211 crash near Molalla

NEAR MOLALLA, Ore. -- Police have identified the man killed in a single-car crash near Molalla Thursday afternoon.

State police responded to the crash around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, and closed the highway for a five hours.

Police say a 1961 Ford pickup driven by 33-year-old Jacob Dondero of Caldwell, Idaho was speeding northbound on 211 when it left the roadway and rolled into the brush about 20 feet away.

The passenger in the pickup, 39-year-old Anthony Scallon of Garland, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dondero was taken to OHSU.

Police say alcohol and speed are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash, and that Dondero and Scallon were not wearing seatbelts.
