COOLIN, Idaho (AP) - Authorities have identified the northern Idaho man shot and killed by Bonner County sheriff’s deputies who were attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant.

Idaho State Police in a statement Wednesday say 50-year-old Craig A. Johnson of Bonner County died Tuesday morning after deputies opened fire.

Police say Johnson was armed and exhibited hostile behavior when deputies attempted to make the arrest at about 9 a.m. near the community of Coolin at the southern end of Priest Lake.

Police say Johnson received medical attention but died in a ground ambulance on the way to meet an air ambulance.

Idaho State Police are leading an investigation by the North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force.
