Watch Jeopardy!, hosted by Aaron Rodgers, tip cap to University of Alabama

Jeopardy!

Two-day champion Scott Shewfelt, left, had the correct response to the Alabama-centric answer on Jeopardy! on Monday, April 5, 2021.

While guest host Aaron Rodgers getting trolled by a contestant during Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, the Green Bay Packers quarterback - and the show - tipped its collective hat to the Crimson Tide.

The following answer appeared in Double Jeopardy under the category of “Pop Culture.”

“In 2008, the visitors’ locker room in Bryant-Denny Stadium at this university was named in honor of James M. Fail.”

Two-day champion Scott Shewfelt took little time to respond with the obvious answer.

It was a busy day for Shewfelt, who was also the contestant to troll Rodgers, who was guest hosting the first of a week-long number of epsiodes of the popular game show.

In 2008 ceremony at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and made possible by Fail’s gift to the Crimson Tide Foundation, the visitors’ locker room was officially named “The Fail Room.”

“This naming opportunity came at Mr. Fail’s request,” then-athletic director Mal Moore told RollTide.com in 2008. “Mr. Fail has been such a strong supporter of ours and had already made a significant gift to name our media suite in memory of his late father-in-law, former Birmingham Post-Herald sports editor Naylor Stone. But he had always been hesitant to use his unique name for a naming right until the right opportunity came along.”

Fail, a native of Mobile, graduated from the University of Alabama in 1949 after a three-year stint in the U.S. Navy.
